چکیده

Abstract Bilayer plates are compound materials that exhibit large bending deformations when exposed to environmental changes lead different mechanical responses in the involved materials. In this article a new numerical method is suitable for simulating isometric deformation induced by given material mismatch bilayer plate discussed. A dimensionally reduced formulation of energy discretized generically an abstract setting and specified discrete Kirchhoff triangles; convergence towards continuous proved. practical semi-implicit gradient flow employing linearization isometry constraint proposed as iterative minimization energy; stability bound on violation The incorporation obstacles discussed performance illustrated with experiments involving simulation investigation contact phenomena.

M-estimators as GMM for Stable Laws Discretizations

This paper is devoted to "Some Discrete Distributions Generated by Standard Stable Densities" (in short, Discrete Stable Densities). The large-sample properties of M-estimators as obtained by the "Generalized Method of Moments" (GMM) are discussed for such distributions. Some corollaries are proposed. Moreover, using the respective results we demonstrate the large-sample pro...

Isometry - invariant geodesics with Lipschitz obstacle 1

Given a linear isometry A0 : Rn → Rn of finite order on Rn , a general 〈A0〉-invariant closed subset M of Rn is considered with Lipschitz boundary. Under suitable topological restrictions the existence of A0-invariant geodesics of M is proven.

Decoupled, Unconditionally Stable, Higher Order Discretizations for MHD Flow Simulation

We propose, analyze, and test a new MHD discretization which decouples the system into two Oseen problems at each timestep yet maintains unconditional stability with respect to the time step size, is optimally accurate in space, and behaves like second order in time in practice. The proposed method chooses a parameter θ ∈ [0, 1], dependent on the viscosity ν and magnetic diffusivity νm, so that...

Electrostatics of lipid bilayer bending.

The electrostatic contribution to spontaneous membrane curvature is calculated within Poisson-Boltzmann theory under a variety of assumptions and emphasizing parameters in the physiological range. Asymmetrical surface charges can be fixed with respect to bilayer midplane area or with respect to the lipid-water area, but induce curvatures of opposite signs. Unequal screening layers on the two si...

A Survey on Simulating Stable Random Variables

In general case, Chambers et al. (1976) introduced the following algorithm for simulating any stable random variables $ X/sim(alpha, beta, gamma, delta) $ with four parameters. They use a nonlinear transformation of two independent uniform random variables for simulating an stable random variable... (to continue, click here)
